Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What will we do at the first class? A: At the first class, you will get to meet your teacher, ask questions about classes, and explain your goals. Your teacher will also give you a written and oral assessment in order to identify problem areas. Please bring a writing sample to the first class if you can.
Q: Is the first class free? A: Unfortunately, no. We charge for the first class because the assessment is a very important step in creating a class that will help you. Charging for the first meeting helps guarantee that both teacher and student are on-time and focused.
Q: Can I have a discount? A: Yes! We love discounts! You can purchase class packs above and enjoy the savings. Class packs expire in 90 days.
Q: How do I pay? A: Click on one of the options above.
Q: Where are in-person classes held? A: Classes are held at public libraries and cafes. We make an effort to find a location close to you, so let us know where you would like to meet when you contact us.
Q: What are classes like? A: Classes are tailored to you. This means that each class is different because each student is different. Sessions generally focus on improving your English reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills through conversational activities, drills, and focused written practice. We can help you improve your general English or focus on specific areas such as pronunciation, Business English, and TOEFL preparation.
Q: Which class is best for me? A: If you live in Berkeley or Oakland, in-person classes are best. If you live in another city or country, Skype lessons are a good option. If you just want occasional practice or editing help, our webinars or cohort are probably best for you.
